Founder's Day

Sorry it has been awhile...L explained that some. K brought home his work computer and I am using his to update you a bit on what we have been doing. Isn't he sweet to do that! His computer reads my chip with no problems...I actually posted two other blogs just prior to this one, so if you are interested in "Wedding Bells" and "Baseball", just scroll down. But this posting is about Founder's Day and a Birthday.

In the center is my niece and nephew...thsi is the beginning of the Founder's Day, and our front yard. It really is the best place. We have shade, it is not as crowded as further down the street, the kids get lots of candy, and we don't have to go anywhere--just the front yard.

CD and I were in the parade this year. I, by default. CD's baseball team was asked to ride this train in the parade. Of course the girls were all excited to do so. The coach, however, did not want to. He had two daughters in the parade and wanted to watch them and take pictures. (I would have wanted the same.) So when he asked me if I would ride with them, how could I say no after he spent a season practicing and at games with the girls all voluntarily? It actually turned out to be fun to see all the crowds (further down the street) and to throw candy for the kids. The girls sang "take me out to the ball game" most of the time and threw all of their candy out before we reached the end. They had a great time.
So J celebrated his 16th birthday. He didn't get his licence (he hasn't taken driver's ed yet--however, he does have his permit) but he did get a present that he is happy with! He got this new guitar with a whammy bar etc. He really likes it. He has been playing a ton and has even written a song. Notice the yellow guitar strap he also got. It says, "Caution Do Not Cross This Line" I thought it great! Happy 16th B-day J! We love you!

Happy Birthday, J! I realized when I read this that I forgot to call for your birthday. Sorry. Hope you had a great day!

I think it's great that you get to watch the parade from your own front yard. Well, I guess this year you got to watch it going down the street and the train. What a fun day!

Hope you had a great 16th birthday, J!!

That is so cool that you can just walk out your front door to the parade. I remember enjoying that parade a couple of times while we were visiting you guys. Really fun! I can imagine CD having a blast throwing out candy. I would have LOVED doing that as a young girl.

Glad that you were able to do some updates on your blog. We've missed you!
